
On Saturday, the 3rd February, 2024, the Municipal coordinating Director represented the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive to commission a maternity block at the FAME clinic at Makango. The Maternity was constructed by FAME Ghana, a Christian base organization who runs the clinic. The event together the Chief and people of the Kuli Traditional Area, representatives of the Municipal Assembly and heads of departments mainly from the health sector and Hon. Assembly Members in the area.
In a brief speech, Mr. Rafael Gunu, Executive Director, FAME Ghana gave a brief history of the Clinic, according to him, the clinic was built by the East Gonja Municipal Assembly during the tenure of the then District Chief Executive, Hon. Jerry Dramani Jackson but the District Assembly couldn’t operationalize it. So, FAME Ghana was contacted to take over the operations of the clinic. Given the challenge of the people of Makango and its environs in accessing basic health care, FAME Ghana took the challenge to operationalize the facility on the 15th May, 1999.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Municipal coordinating Director, the Hon. MCE expressed his joy and happiness about the upgrade of facilities at the clinic and was quick to express his gratitude to the FAME Ghana for their effort in complimenting government effort to make health accessible to the people of Makango and its environs. He pledged the Municipal Assembly’s continues support to Fame Ghana and other non-governmental Organizations in their effort to bring healthcare to the door-steps of the people. He therefore appealed to the clinic to liaise with the Municipal Health Directorate to deploy health personnel to man the facility and to make the facility benefits the people.
The Kulibu-wura and the Paramount Chief of the Kuli Traditional Area, expressed his happiness about the facility as it would go a long way to improve healthcare delivery to the people and expressed his profound gratitude to FAME Ghana for their immense contribution and response to the health needs of the people. He pledged the continues support of the Traditional Authority to the clinic and FAME Ghana in their effort to make healthcare delivery accessible.Â
