The Department of Agriculture of East Gonja Municipal Assembly has taken receipt of 10,000-day-old chicks, 10 bags of 50kg poultry feed and medications under the Feed Ghana Programme being implemented through the Nkoko Nketenkete Initiative.
The consignment was received on 28th of September 2026 by the Service Provider Mr. Mohammed Seidu and the Department of Agriculture to ensure the Nkoko Nketenkete are safe on arrival and to collaboratively provide the day-old chicks with the necessary brooding facility.
As part of the arrangement, designated Animal production unit (APD) and Veterinary Officers will provide technical supervision and support throughout the brooding period. They will be responsible for ensuring proper management of the chicks, including feeding, vaccination, medication, biosecurity, routine monitoring and general animal health care.
The chicks will be carefully reared and monitored for a period of four (4) weeks before they are officially distributed to the registered beneficiaries within the East Gonja Municipality.
The Department of Agriculture will continue to coordinate and monitor the process to ensure that the birds are adequately prepared and that beneficiaries receive the necessary technical guidance to support successful poultry production.
The initiative is expected to contribute to increasing poultry production, improve livelihoods, household nutrition and food security.
